What to do when the label size and media do not match

The physical media, printer driver and BarTender page setup must use the same dimensions, direction and media type.

What this page helps you do

The physical media, printer driver and BarTender page setup must use the same dimensions, direction and media type.

Checks and steps

  1. Measure one label, its gap or black mark, the number of columns and the feed direction.
  2. Create or select the matching media size in the printer driver.
  3. Select the same printer and media size in BarTender Page Setup.
  4. Check orientation, rows, columns, gaps and margins.
  5. Calibrate the printer so the sensor detects the actual media.
  6. Print a bordered test label, then print five consecutive labels to check drift.

Scope and verification

If the first label is correct and later labels drift, check label height, gap and calibration first. If every label has the same fixed offset, check margins and print origin.
